Urdu Language having traditions of 800 hundred Years

After the thinker of Pakistan Sir Muhammad Iqbal (1877-1938), Faiz Ahmed Faiz is the most popular poet of Pakistan. Faiz Ahmed Faiz was born in Sialkot. He belongs to an influential landlord family. Faiz Ahmed Faiz’s father was a prominent lawyer and he inherited the interest in literature from his father. Faiz’s father was a good friend of several prominent literary figures of that time including Sir Muhammad Iqbal (1873-1938). Faiz received his early education from mission Schools in Sialkot in the English Language but he also learned several other languages like Urdu, Persian and Arabic.

Faiz wrote his fist poem at school level. He completed his Masters Degrees in English Literature and Arabic Literature from Government College, Lahore and Oriental College, Lahore respectively. Apart from formal education, participation in several activities of literary circles was majorly responsible for Faiz’s development in Urdu literature. After graduating he offered his services as a teacher in Amritsar and Lahore then he became editor of “The Pakistan Times”. He also worked as managing editor as editor of daily Urdu daily Imroz and was an active member in organizing trade union.
