Urdu Language having traditions of 800 hundred Years

Death anniversary of legendary Urdu poet Faiz Ahmed Faiz, observed nationwide on Sunday, November 21, 2010. Tributes were paid by different Radio and news channels for his legendary services toward Urdu literature. He was a great Urdu poet as well as a Journalist. Faiz’s style of poetry combined the theme of love, beauty and political views into vision of betterment of world.

"Faiz is a "committed" poet who regards poetry as a vehicle of serious thought, and not a mere pleasurable pastime. He does not accept the maxim of "art for art's sake," a news channel paid tribute to the Urdu poet. He was an admirer of Karl Heinrich Marx. He was awarded by prestigious Lenin Award for Peace by Soviet Union and his poetry was translated in to Russian language.  Faiz famous literary works are Naqsh-e- Faryadi (1943), Dast-e-Saba (1952), Zindan-Nama (1956) Dast-e-Tah-e-Sang (1965) and Nuska-Haye-Wafa.
Faiz’s mother tongue was Punjabi, but he is popular for poetry in Urdu Language, a language derived from Arabic and Persian language. Due to his views which opposed the major entities of government, he spent several years in prison and was forced to exile several times in his life.
